| Oxygenators, Submersed or Underwater plants for ponds water gardens and Japanese gardens |
Oxygenating? Submersed is a more appropriate term for these plants. The reason? All plants add oxygen to the pond! These plants can float but are typically placed on the bottom of the pond in deeper water. Parrots feather can be sunk to the bottom, potted or allowed to float on top of the water. Anacharis and hornwort are the most common underwater, submersed or oxygenating plants .
Pond fish are known to eat anacharis! Tadpoles also love to eat anacharis, too. So, hornwort "may be" a better selection.

If you are having trouble keeping these plants on the bottom of the pond or if they end up in your skimmer, simply place the plants in a net bag (laundry bag.) Be sure to allow room in the bag for the plant to grow by not over crowding them.
