I rented a mini backhoe (after we rented it and got it home we found out that it was very worn out and didnt work well  ) we started about 9:00-9:30 AM and didnt stop until midnight  . The backhoe ran the whole time only stopping when it ran out of gas.

The rest was done by shovel

nice pond 8) how big is it? as I was looking at your dirt it had a slight reddish hue to it and I had to look to see were you were from. I thought that the dirt looked familar. were are you going to find rocks. I didn't see to many when I visited there a couple of years ago. I loved Oklahoma I was trying to con my husband to move there as there is 80 acres and two ponds on a property there. my friend lives in Oklhoma city, I may go there for another visit in November. Her dirt is alot reddish. I took some home in a jar, to remind me thats were friends are :)

Great looking pond. Love the plant shelf you put in. Should be really coold once you connect it to your existing pond.

I hear you about the rocks. We built about a 6' retaining wall out of natural stone. Amazing how much people charge for rock. Moving and positioning all the rock definitely took its toll on my back. Another back wrenching task was wheeling all those extra barrels of soil up into our woods and then spreading it out.

Again, congrats on the new pond. Keep the pictures coming.

Murphj01.... Thanks :)

laurasminskins.....

Thanks, Pond is 10x20x3. alot bigger then my first pond 7x11 - 23 to 27 inch deep. There is no dirt here 100% clay making it very hard to dig. I was born in Oklahoma City but move to Francis, Okla when I was about 12. I do love the country life a whole lot better then the big city. Last year we had a rock place to open up in a small town near us that is where I plan to puy the flagstone. :)

<*///><......

Thanks, I would love to get the edging of the pond done before it gets to cold. Finish it up and bulit a waterfall come spring. I do plan to work on it as long as the weather will let me and I have the extra $$$ to do so. :)

Steve........

Thanks, time we unlaoded 1/2 ton and a 1/4 ton of flagstone, 1200 pounds of another rock making two trips into town yesterday I was to tired to do much work on the pond :( . That was one good thing about renting the backhoe we could haul the dirt down to where we wanted it and save our backs. The first pond we made was all done with shovel and a wheel barrel. :)
