Project for a restaurant

Postby Don on Mon Oct 13, 2008 3:49 am

Thought you might like to see an indoor pond/waterfall that I did for a restaurant in DeKalb, Illinois this summer. It is made of 28 separate pieces of lightweight concrete with a preformed solid plastic pond. It is composed of materials demonstrated in the video post "Faux Rock Tutorial" Oct 7 2008.

This is the base of the project

It uses a 210 gph pump, sponge filter, 50 gallon pond, six underwater lights and houses a half dozen tropical fish.

How fun. What do you use to color the rock? Great work.

It is colored with a combination of integral concrete pigment added at the time of mixing, acid stain used after curing, and diluted latex paint using a spatter technique. You can see the entire process of making fake rock, coloring and sealing it in a six-part video series posted on Oct 7 in the pond section entitled, "A Faux Rock Tutorial".

That is so cool :)
How simple it is to make a difference in the lives of others. To someone who's made a beautiful difference in my life.
